Giving from the bounty of our table…..
Proverbs 22:9 A generous man will be blessed for he shares his food with the poor.
This Thanksgiving will be our 4th Annual Blessing Baskets event for the community. This Basket has a double Blessing….for the Giver and the Receiver.
New City Church purchases turkeys to donate to families in the community that might not otherwise have a traditional Thanksgiving meal. We plan to support families in the Gardner, Edgerton and Baldwin City areas. Our goal is 63 families!
We then partner with you and your family and/or friends to buy the other items to make a complete meal. Below is the typical content of the Blessing Basket:
Basket Items to Buy:
Stuffing Mix
2 Can(s) Green Beans
2 Can(s) Corn
Instant Potatoes (or fresh)
1 Can(s) sweet potatoes (or fresh)
Rice
Mac-n-Cheese
2 Can(s) Pinto Beans
Butter
Milk
1 Can(s) Cranberry Sauce
1 Can(s) Pumpkin Pie

This year we’ve made it easy. Each Blessing Basket is estimated at $35 each. You can contribute toward the purchase of the Blessing Baskets by placing your check or cash in the offering bucket; just make sure to write the total on the offering envelope and that its for Blessing Baskets.
We are partnering with Price Chopper in Gardner again this year to purchase the items for the Baskets. Based on the bulk purchase we can get significant discounts.
OR – if you’re more hands on and would like to shop for the items that is great too. Just let us know.
On Sunday, November 18, after our last service we will pray over the Baskets and deliver them to the families. If you are interested in helping deliver a meal or two, please put that on the connect card or sign up online by going to the events page under the Edgerton Campus link and click on Blessing Baskets.
If you would like more information please contact Judy Carter.
