Daily Abiding Rhythms
Building abiding rhythms in our lives and setting aside intentional private time with the Lord is a precious and vital part of any relationship with Jesus. As we kick off our new sermon series, “Rise of the Kingdom,” we encourage all to take the time to abide in worship, prayer and the Word and dive deeper each day. A tool you can use as you seek to be in the Word through the daily scripture readings in this series is outlined by the structure of the Lord’s prayer.
“Our Father…”
Wow! Begin your time in worship and praise of the Lord. Worship doesn’t always involve singing, either. It can involve reading a Psalm out loud, thanking Him for blessings, or just acknowledging His presence as God and King over your life.
“Your kingdom come…”
Now! What are you bringing to your father in your secret private time with him about observations about your life and circumstances or those around you? What is happening in your life now that you need to take the time to hear from God about?
“My daily bread …”
How? What is something you need to be quiet and listen to the Lord’s direction on that you’ve been praying about? How can you be still and allow Him to speak movement into the need He already knows you have? Where do you need to be fed more from the Word spiritually?
“Forgive me as I forgive …”
Obey! What areas must you reflect on? Is there anything you need to repent, realign, renounce, remove, or recommit to? How can you take the next step in obedience to what you have heard God calling you into?
“Lead me…”
Abide as I go… As you take these next steps in your abiding in worship, prayer, and the Word, ask God to help keep you from anything that would tempt you away from this time with Him and any temptations that would draw you farther from His presence in your life as you close your time.
